Learn to Play

Again and
Have Fun!

When was the last time you just played like you did in your childhood?  When you were younger

if you fell down you got back up.  If you got wet you dried off, if you ripped your pants you either

went home and changed secretly or waited until later.  Well, what's keeping you?  Just because you

are an adult doesn't mean you cannot get back up if you fall down, dry off if you get wet or change

your ripped pants.  Life can sometimes give you wonderful memories if you fall down, get wet or

rip your pants. I have experienced all three of these in the last few years.  They have turned out to

be some great memories.

Back on Fall break I went kayaking in Central Florida with the manatees. I edged up and took a

picture, too close, and a manatee knocked me out of the kayak along with my $300.00 waterproof

non-floating camera. I was upset about it but I got the kayak back to shore, emptied it and went

on.  Thanks to a friend he had taken some pictures also.

If you play you are going to have mishaps once in a while.  Don't let that stop you.  Even though I

have had my share of bumps and bruises and ripped pants, I have had more sunsets, more sunrises,

more full moons, and more excitement than I ever expected.  On the same trip I paddled right beside

an alligator, witnessed dolphins in a feeding frenzy and witnessed some very large herons.

What a trip! What a ride!

Plan Your Next Adventure

1.  Stop wishing and start moving!

2.  Watch the Nature or Travel channel and get some ideas.

3.  Wear your life jacket around the water.

4.  Go a day early and take an Adventure side trip.

5.  Look through the magazine section at a book store.

6.  Ask some friends about their adventures.

7.  Ask the students in your classroom about what they would do for an adventure.

8.  Try a day trip to a State Park in your area.

9.  If you have a cell phone take it with you.

10. Purchase a one time waterproof floating camera.  Yes, they are available.

11. Take your waterproof camera and put it on a lanyard around your neck.

12. Take an extra pair of pants in case you rip yours!

13.  Buy a pair of floating sunglasses.

13.  Take a towel with you even if you are not around water.

14.  Be sure to take a map.

15.  Take your ID and some spare change with you.

With some planning you can easily begin to enjoy some easy and fun adventures.
